Step 7
Add Details to model
OBJECTIVE: To ensure that all details added are correctly sized and placed.
Detailing should be done Section by Section or Floor by Floor (or in some cases via both methods)
Please send updates of your progress for this step at 30% , 60% & 80% completion using the File Transfer Form. (On the menu at top Right of Screen)
7.1
ADD OPENINGS (Doors & Windows etc.)

1. Check the drawings and other info provided to see the size of openings that are to be added.
2. Check the sizes of each type and then load them from the respective folder in the Library.
3. Using the floor plan and Elevations / Section views, add in each type of opening, floor by floor
(E.g. Add in all Casement windows of the same size for the entire Ground Floor. Then add all double doors etc.)

ADD FINE DETAILS

Add in the finer details via the area-by-area method or the floor-by-floor method or via a combination of both if necessary. IMPORTANT: Always cross check EVERY detail that is added with all drawings to ensure the correct detail is added in the correct location at the correct size. Add all of the the following that is relevant to your project.

Wall Details
e.g. sweeps, reveals, caps, holes, recesses, quoins, trim, cladding etc.
​
Roof Details
e.g. fascia, soffit, roof covering [standing seam etc.], gutters, drainpipes, eave detail
​
Remaining Structural elements
e.g. columns, beams, roof structure
Other Structures
e.g. canopy, trellis
​
Window details
e.g. louvres, shutters, mouldings, etc.
​
All Other details seen on the Elevation
e.g. shading devices
7.3
REVIEW DRAWINGS & REFINE MODEL

See company standards for guidelines governing the creation of floor slabs. Please be reminded that this phase of the project is for the creation of the building's FORM only. This will provide the other team members with a base file to start their phase of the project.

Cross check your 3D model with the info provided to ensure that all details have been added accurately for each floor / area before moving on to next area / building.

Open each elevation view and double check EVERY opening & detail on the floor that was just completed to ensure that each is correctly sized and correctly placed

Edit the incorrect opening / detail as is necessary.

Repeat for ALL other details on that floor to also ensure that each is correctly sized and correctly placed
